In America The early performing arts accomplishments of young Maureen FitzSimons (who we know as Maureen O'Hara) would definitely have put her in the category of child prodigies. A child of Irish heritage, and surrounded as she was by gifted parents, and her family, this came naturally. Maureen joined this wonderful sanctuary in Ranelagh, Ireland on August 17th, 1920. She was the daughter of Marguerita Lililburn FitzSimons an accomplished contralto. Charles FitzSimons ran a Dublin business, and owned shares in the Irish Shamrock Rovers soccer club. Maureen FitzSimons is the second daughter from Charles FitzSimons. Peggy FitzSimons, Florrie Fitzsimons Charles B. Fitzsimons Margot Fitzsimons The rest of the family rounded out this amazing family. Maureen did well as a sporty woman and was a gruelling athlete in sports when she was a young. This naturally-born interest with her ability for performing was remarkable. This was apparent that she was the winner of every Feis in drama and theatre which Ireland could provide. At age fourteen, she was admitted to the Abbey Theater, where her dream was to pursue the art of opera and classical theatre.
